Cressida
Biography
The Cressida Story
begins in 1980.
In Munich, an energetic little Kid named Roland
is born. His curiosity and drive soon gets him into
contact with anything that is loud and noisy…
One year later,
on the other side of Germany, Matthias
sees the light of day. He is more of a calm kid, always
observing the environment from a save distance…
Looking at the different characters of these
two boys, it is hard to believe that they share
A story which has been told in many biographies:
Electronic music is discovered at the age of about
12, combined with the realization that
this can be done with certain programs like “trackers”
– next step is to get into it so much that the first
hardware is being collected, each year another item
to get more and more professional, until the courage
is developed to share the own music with a greater
audience, which involves uploading the tracks to music
communities and of course sending
demos to the labels…
With the long music experience of both Roland
and Matthias,
it is no wonder that they already gained a little
prosperity on their own, before meeting in 2003,
when Matthias moved
to Munich to study audio-engineering.
But the real Cressida story
begins not until now.
As Roland and
Matthias put
their experiences together, they realize that with
joined forces, their goal of finding the own, special
sound and the “perfect melody”
could be achieved much faster. Inspired
by big artists like Enigma,
Moby or Andy
Moor, they try to combine emotional, trancy
elements with lush,
housy grooves and rocking
basslines – and succeed. The very first “Cressida”
tracks “Certainty”
and “Carillon” get
signed right away to the famous Dutch label somatic
sense future sounds. After loads of support,
the first remix inquiries
from different labels
arrive, which are eager to feature the “Cressidasound”
on their imprints.
Right now, the boys have released plenty
of tracks and remixes
on famous labels like euphonic,
selective, enhanced,
alter ego records,
skywarp, waterworld,
somatic sense,
novascape, etc
- and the roll won´t stop.
Still working for big imprints like euphonic
and lost language
and rec eiving support by all the usual suspects of
the trance and
progressive scene,
the future looks bright for Cressida…
